Last day of our Dolomites, we visited the Marmolada. It is about 1 hour and an half drive from Cortina. It is known as the Queen of the Dolomites. To reach to the top, one need to take 3 cable cars. The 1st stop is just for transfer and nothing to see. At the 2nd stop, there is a wooden heart sculpture and a WWI Museum. At the 3rd stop, there is a Madonna Cave with a black Madonna statue. We also walked out and walked on ice.
Beside that, there is nothing to do. Therefore, we just tried to come down via cable cars. However, they closed the top cable car around noon for more than an hour, so we had to wait. At the 2nd stop, you have to wait again. With just one cable car rides to the top, not much to do at the top, and you have to wait for the cable car to come down each stop, we felt that this is the worst attraction we had during 5 days of Dolomites trip. As a matter of fact, if we knew earlier, we would skip Marmolada.
On the way back to our hotel, we passed by the Gardena Pass area. We stopped just like many other tourists and took a lot of photos.
After we got back to Cortina, we filled up the gas and did more shopping and walking around the town.
